Standard 8.1 Training stations should be available in the type and number required for the performance of skills outlined in the program goals and performance objectives.

Computer stations are assigned for each student up to 31 seats. Workstations accommodate space for a student to have both a drawing table and computer workstation. The workstation is 48” wide and 24” deep, split in the middle, and the drawing side to be adjusted at various angles for drawing preference. Workstations are set at 34” with an accompanying adjustable stool. Total square footage is 2150’. Click on the link for the room layout standard from the GA DoE.
Standard 8.2 The facilities should meet all applicable safety standards, including appropriate signage and lighting.

Regular inspection and upkeep of classroom is maintained by school custodians. This includes florescent lighting, the fire extinguisher, and floors. Emergency evacuation maps are posted at the doorways and emergency plans are readily available in a folder - which is available for a substitute teacher too. Emergency drills for fire, severe weather, and lock down are scheduled throughout the year with school administration overseeing the procedures.
Standard 8.3 Work and support area(s) should be kept clean and orderly.

Students are expected to keep tools in a bag with their workstation. Other tools are stored in lockable storage closets
Standard 8.4 An area separate from the work area should be available and convenient for the instructor(s) to use as an office. Computers shall be available for instructor(s) use in the office.

Standard 8.5 A classroom area convenient to the work area should be available for instruction and other non-lab activities. Classrooms and drawing rooms (work areas) should be of adequate size.

Standard 8.6 Storage space for drawings, tools, supplies, and components should be sufficient to support the activities outlined in the program goals and performance objectives. Security should be provided to prevent pilferage and vandalism.

See room layout (picture from Standard 8.1). The two storage cabinets are lockable with a key. Other cabinets used for storage are located in the workroom which can be locked for security.
Standard 8.7 A current, well-equipped first aid kit and fire extinguishers should be in place and comply with local regulations.
Supportive documentation:
Fire extinguisher is located outside the classroom in an accessible cabinet and is inspected regularly. The First Aid kit and eye wash station are located in the workroom and are replenished or replaced as recommended. Students are given an orientation for the location of these items at the start of the semester. See room layout.
Standard 8.8 The advisory committee and the administration should conduct an annual evaluation of the facilities to assure adequacy in meeting program goals.

Advisory committee member has also substituted in the classroom and can verify the adequacy of facility in meeting program goals. Activities conducted in the classroom will first require that the area is physically organized and safe for all in order to learn.
